Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Woodland View Primary and Nursery School

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Woodland View, a friendly and ambitious school at the heart of Huthwaite. We are proud to serve our community and to provide a nurturing environment where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

At Woodland View, we believe education is about developing the whole child. Academic achievement is important, and we are continually striving to strengthen our teaching and learning so that every pupil benefits from a high-quality, engaging and ambitious curriculum. At the same time, we are equally committed to enhancing our personal development offer and pastoral support. We want our children to feel safe, supported and confident — ready not only to succeed academically, but to thrive socially and emotionally too.

Our four core values — Integrity, Kindness, Resilience and Respect â€” are at the heart of everything we do. We teach our children to act with integrity, making honest and thoughtful choices even when no one is watching. We model and nurture kindness, ensuring our school is a place where everyone feels welcome and cared for. Respect underpins our relationships, helping children to value themselves, each other and the wider community. Resilience empowers our pupils to persevere through challenges, learn from mistakes and grow in confidence.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum designed to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning. From English and mathematics to science, humanities, sport and the arts, our curriculum is enriched by our wonderful grounds, which allow us to extend learning beyond the classroom and make full use of outdoor experiences. We are constantly reviewing and refining what we offer to ensure it meets the needs of our children and reflects our ambition for them.

However, what truly defines Woodland View is our commitment to care. We recognise that children learn best when they feel secure and understood. Strong relationships sit at the centre of our approach, and we work in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure that every child receives the support, encouragement and challenge they need.

Woodland View is a place where children are inspired to aim high, supported to overcome barriers and encouraged to become thoughtful, confident young people. We are proud of our journey of continual improvement and excited about the future we are building together.

We look forward to welcoming you into our school community.

Warm wishes,

Mr. Ratcliffe
