Year 6 Return to School - 8th March

3 March 2021 (by Jodie Binch (Jbinch))

Dear parents and carers,

Firstly, a huge thank you to all of your children who have worked so hard during lockdown. We are really proud and impressed with the positive attitudes to learning that so many children have shown. Additionally, we would like to thank all of you, too, who have supported your children in their remote learning. Again, we have been very impressed - thank you.

As you know, all children are back on Monday March 8th - details about the start and end of the day will be sent home this week.

Until Easter, we have decided to split the Year 6 children into different groups to support catch up where it is needed as our main aim in the coming months is to make sure the children are ready for Year 7. There will be two groups: one will work with Ms Baxter in Maple classroom and one will work with Mrs Fiddimore and Mr Carter in Oak classroom. You will receive an email from your child’s class teacher to inform you which group they are in. Mr Carter and Mr Clayton will continue to work with small groups and Mrs Stewart will work to support reading too. All of Year 6 will be one bubble which means they will be able to play with each other at break times and lunch time. We plan to add in additional socialising times where possible, as we recognise the children need time to be with their friends too.

We will also start practising to run a daily mile each day- we want to give children a brain break and a bit of time in the fresh air. Please ensure they have trainers in school and a bottle for water.

After Easter, children will return to their usual classroom groups.

Please note that we have been asked by government to assess children using previous SATs  papers, so we will have a Woodland View SATs week in June. We will send out more information nearer the time. Information from these assessments will be shared with you and with their      secondary schools.

If you have any questions, please do contact us. Email is perhaps the best way as we are not  always able to get to a phone during the school day.

Best wishes,

Ms Baxter, Mr Carter and Mrs Fiddimore.
