Butterflies Welcome Letter

9 September 2020 (by Jodie Binch (Jbinch))

Wednesday 9th September 2020

Dear Parent / Carer,

Thank you for all you support with the re-opening of school. I hope that your child is enjoying their time here.

Throughout last week many important questions were asked. I hope the following information helps to answer most of them.

Start time - F2 (Butterflies) will start school at 8.50am. The gates will be open from 8.30am for children in Nursery and for children whose siblings start at an earlier time.

Finish Time - F2 (Butterflies) will finish school at 3pm. If children have siblings that finish earlier, please collect them at 3pm. Siblings are to be collected from the hall and then please make your way to Foundation to collect children from Butterfly class. Children in Butterfly class will not be sent to the hall.

Snack time - Children in F2 do not need to bring snacks into school each day as children will be provided with fruit and milk during snack time. If your child has any allergies and you wish to provide an alternative this is fine.

Dinner time - Cooked dinners in F2 are free for all children. Children are welcome to bring a packed lunch if they prefer. Packed lunches are to be brought in a plastic bag and will be kept in class. You can pick which day your child has a cooked dinner or a packed lunch. School menus have been sent out and are available online to help you determine what your child will have for dinner.

Water bottles - All children are asked to bring a water bottle to school each day. These will be kept in the water bottle station in class and sent home at the end of each day.

P.E Kits - Unfortunately due to current circumstances we do not have a set day for P.E as we have to share apparatus and space with other bubbles. In light of this we ask pupils to bring their P.E kit in on Monday morning and these will then be sent home on a Thursday afternoon. At some point in the week we will have a P.E session. In the P.E bag please put a pair of trainers, white top, black shorts, plain joggers for outside and a plain jumper/hoodie.

Forest schools - Forest school sessions this year will be on a Friday. These will be held by Mrs Hardy, our forest school teacher. The first session will be on Friday 18th September. A letter will be sent out explaining forest schools in more detail this coming Friday.

Stay and play sessions - Unfortunately due to current circumstances we cannot hold our weekly stay and play sessions for parents, however as soon as we can, we will let you know when they will resume.

Dojo - Dojo is a virtual classroom that is used in school to reward children for their achievements and to communicate with parents. Parents will receive an invitation to join our Dojo classroom. Follow the instructions on the invitation to join. Teachers in F2 will use dojo to keep you up to date with events in school, set homework tasks and to pass on messages. You can also use it to directly message your child’s teacher between the hours of 7am- 6pm.

School App - We have a school app which can be downloaded to your phone. To log onto the school app search ‘School Jotter’ in your app store and download it to your phone. Once downloaded search for Woodland View Primary school.

I hope that you have found this information useful.

Kind Regards,

Miss R Haywood – Foundation Stage Coordinator
